Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline

Review by Jack Jemison

Ready Player One is a sci-fi novel set in dystopian 2044 where reality is using the VR world know as the OASIS with many 80’s references. The book follows main character Wade Watts as he embarks to finish Halliday’s contest. This contest was introduced after Halliday’s death, it was to find a secret easter egg that would gift full power over the game. “Three hidden keys open three secret gates wherein the errant will be tested for worthy traits and those with the skill to survive these straits will reach The End where the prize awaits”. The enemy in this book goes by Nolan Sorrento, the CEO of the company IOI. As time passes by Wade accidentally finds the first key and instantly becomes famous. Not long after the popular Blogger/Gamer Art3mis gets the bronze key then followed by Wades online friend wade becomes rich he buys the best gear and the best items in the OASIS. As Wade fights Nolan Sorrento from IOI for the Jade and Diamond key he faces many problems and tasks as well as his own EGO. this book is great for sci-fi fans and people who were kids in the 80’s. I overall enjoy this book and its on my favorites list its very fast paced and enjoyable.
