Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry

Review by Leah Mershon

The historical fiction book, Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry, is about World War II and how the Jews were getting “relocated”. In the book the main character, Annemarie has a best friend named Ellen. But Ellen and her family are Jews and if they don’t find a place to hide out they would be sent away to camps and get killed by the Nazi. Annemarie and her family decided to take in Ellen and pretend she was her older sister. It is a very dangerous job for Annemarie’s family but they would do anything to save their friends.

This book is packed with excitement and shows what the life was of the Jews. if you like the book The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank you will love this book because they are both set in World War II and go through the dangers and sadness of living in that time.
